چکیده

ABSTRACT Physiological and nutritional management is an important practice for obtaining high quality seedlings. The use of seaweed extract has emerged as alternative to fertilizers biostimulants, although information on this with respect Alibertia edulis, a fruit-bearing species native the Cerrado region, scarce. aim study was evaluate effects Ascophyllum nodosum L. (ANE), both without addition mineral nitrogen, growth, nitrogen nutrient efficiency indices, A. edulis seedlings received five doses ANE (0, 5, 10, 15, 20 mL L-1 water) via foliar application, N soil (50 mg kg-1 urea). A randomized block design used treatments arranged in 5 × 2 factorial scheme. plant height, stem diameter, chlorophyll index, number leaves obtained were analyzed split-plots over time. Foliar application 15 contributed greater growth seedling quality, regardless nitrogen. Seedlings treated alongside 13.98 showed greatest leaf area. highest efficiency, uptake, occurred that extract.

Thermal imaging of soybean response to drought stress: the effect of Ascophyllum nodosum seaweed extract

Previous experiments have demonstrated positive effect of Acadian(®) extract of Ascophyllum nodosum on plant stress-resistance, however the mode of action is not fully understood. The aim of this study was to understand the physiological effect of Acadian(®) seaweed extract on the plant response to drought stress. Leaf temperature and leaf angle were measured as early-stage indicators of plant ...

Ascophyllum nodosum Seaweed Extract Alleviates Drought Stress in Arabidopsis by Affecting Photosynthetic Performance and Related Gene Expression

Drought represents one of the most relevant abiotic stress affecting growth and yield of crop plants. In order to improve the agricultural productivity within the limited water and land resources, it is mandatory to increase crop yields in presence of unfavorable environmental stresses. The use of biostimulants, often containing seaweed extracts, represents one of the options for farmers willin...

Sensitivity of Escherichia coli to Seaweed (Ascophyllum nodosum) Phlorotannins and Terrestrial Tannins

Pure culture experiments were conducted to assess the bacteriostatic and bactericidal effects of phlorotannins (PT) isolated from Ascophyllum nodosum (brown seaweed) on Escherichia coli O157:H7. In Exp. 1, one non-O157:H7 strain (25922) and three strains of E. coli O157:H7 (3081, EDL933 and E318N) were cultured in M9 medium with PT included at 0 (control), 25, 50 or 100 μg/ml (n = 3). Bacterial...

Antidiabetic properties of polysaccharide- and polyphenolic-enriched fractions from the brown seaweed Ascophyllum nodosum.

We screened seaweed species from Atlantic Canada for antidiabetic activity by testing extracts for alpha-glucosidase inhibitory effect and glucose uptake stimulatory activity. An aqueous ethanolic extract of Ascophyllum nodosum was found to be active in both assays, inhibiting rat intestinal alpha-glucosidase (IC50 = 77 microg/mL) and stimulating basal glucose uptake into 3T3-L1 adipocytes duri...

Effect of foliar application of seaweed Ascophyllum nodosum extract on morpho-physiological characteristics of bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) under water stress

Seaweed extract can improve the physicochemical properties of the soil and has a favorable effect on the plant growth and development due to having high nutrient content, high water holding capacity, plant growth regulators and beneficial microorganisms. The aim of this experiment was to investigate the effect of Ascophyllum nodosum extract, a brown alga, on the morphophysiological characterist...
